NAACP and Shenandoah County Libraries and the Woodstock Public Library to Host Free Voter Registration Events

 In a joint effort to prepare area residents for upcoming elections, the Shenandoah County NAACP, Shenandoah County Branch Libraries, and the Woodstock Public Library are hosting a voter registration event on Tuesday, September 15. The initiative will offer voter education and registration assistance across participating libraries.

During scheduled hours, election-certified volunteers trained under Virginia guidelines will assist community members with registering to vote, verifying voter status, and finding polling locations. Open to all voters free of charge, this non-partisan effort welcomes first-time registrants, those updating their details, and residents who have recently moved or changed their legal name.

“This is an important service to the people of Shenandoah County,” said Carolyn Chilton, a local member of the NAACP and library volunteer. “Your vote is your voice. Early voting opens September 18, and we hope people will take advantage of this assistance to ensure your vote is counted.”

Attendees should check the Virginia Elections website (elections.virginia.gov) for a list of accepted IDs to bring with them to register to vote.   Your Social Security Number will also be needed.
