During the month of October the Shenandoah County Library’s Truban Archives and other institutions around the country will be celebrating National Archives Month. This year’s National Archives Month Celebrations include the following local events:

  •  Archives Fair at George Mason University’s Fenwick Library, Friday October 5th from 1:00PM-3:30PM. This event provides an opportunity to learn about what local Virginia archival repositories have to offer, to speak to archivists, to learn about the services archives offer, and to view interesting items from their collection. It features seven regional archives, including the Shenandoah County Library’s Truban Archives.
  • Protecting the Past: The Truban Archives and Our Community, Shenandoah County Library, Tuesday October 16th at 6:30PM. This program is designed to share the story and mission of the Shenandoah County Library’s Truban Archives with the community. It will feature Archivist Zachary Hottel who will discuss the archive’s collections and programming.
  • Identifindme Photo Viewing Party, Shenandoah County Library, Saturday October 27th, 11:00AM-2:00PM. This event is designed to highlight the thousands of photographs preserved in the Shenandoah County Library’s Truban Archives and to give the public an opportunity to share what they know about the images, many of which are unidentified. It will feature viewing stations viewers can interact with numerous photograph collections in one sitting.
